Set in the heart of downtown Oakland, DESCO offers true and honest contemporary Italian cuisine from Executive Chef Donato Scotti and Simone Ferrara that changes seasonally determined by the freshest available ingredients. Homemade pastas, wood-burning oven pizzas, meat and fish courses are available, executed in an authentic yet modern way.
The menu includes antipasti and pasta dishes such as Piatto della Casa, an assortment house smoked duck, porchetta and rabbit terrine as well as Casonsei, a rustic ravioli from Bergamo filled with pork and housemade sausage with a brown butter and guanciale. All the fresh pasta is made in-house. For dessert, diners can enjoy Bünet, a Piemontese chocolate custard made with amaretto cookie with a light caramel sauce. Not to be missed is Desco’s traditional Neapolitan pizze prepared in a wood-fired oven. The wine list at Desco is entirely Italian, with 50 selections, 20 of which are poured by the glass. The full bar showcases classic cocktails, amaro and traditional Italian aperitivi and digestivi.
