To our friends and neighbors in Oakland,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that DESCO will close on Dec. 31.
The closure is a result of an inability to come to a long-term agreement that would allow us to make updates to the restaurant space and concept. While DESCO is doing very well, we have decided to focus our attention on DONATO & Co. in Berkeley's Elmwood district, as well as a new venture planned in San Francisco.
We have had a wonderful experience in Oakland and appreciate all of the support DESCO has received over the years.
Please come visit us and see some familiar faces from DESCO at DONATO & Co. in Berkeley at 2635 Ashby Ave in the New Year.
The menu includes antipasti and pasta dishes such as Piatto della Casa, an assortment house smoked duck, porchetta and rabbit terrine as well as Casonsei, a rustic ravioli from Bergamo filled with pork and housemade sausage with a brown butter and guanciale. All the fresh pasta is made in-house. For dessert, diners can enjoy Bünet, a Piemontese chocolate custard made with amaretto cookie with a light caramel sauce. Not to be missed is Desco’s traditional Neapolitan pizze prepared in a wood-fired oven. The wine list at Desco is entirely Italian, with 50 selections, 20 of which are poured by the glass. The full bar showcases classic cocktails, amaro and traditional Italian aperitivi and digestivi.
